Paralysis and the Workplace Webinar

Paralysis and the Workplace.

As people living with paralysis enter or reenter the workplace, they are often asked to carry the responsibility of selecting the appropriate accommodations or equipment, despite not yet being familiar with the supportive tools, policies, or practices that may be most beneficial as they adjust how the work gets done.

Joining or rejoining the workforce post- injury or diagnosis can be critical for a person to sustain income and gain access to health insurance. It also can bring meaningful relationships and professional satisfaction, as well as have a positive impact on wellbeing.

Unfortunately, unlike most health events, people with a SCI or paralysis diagnosis face significant out-of-pocket expenses that can impede their well-being and ability to fulfill their career goals. Just as no two spinal cord injuries are the same, each path to workplace success is unique. The right role, organization, and accommodations can make all the difference, helping both employees and employers thrive together in a way that’s tailored to their needs.

The purpose of this webinar was to spark a dialogue to empower employees and equip employers to attract, retain, and promote top talent.
