Paralyzed three times. Eight completed Boston Marathons.
On Monday April 20 2026 our co-founder and President Thomas Smith completed his eight Boston Marathon alongside Joe Ford, and Bill and Denise Richard of the Martin Richard Foundation.
Each year, Tom participates in the Boston Marathon to raise funds and awareness for those who can’t. He is the first person with multiple paralyzing spinal cord injuries to complete the Boston Marathon –– living proof of what access makes possible.
To date, over $480,000 have been raised through TESF’s Boston Marathon fundraising efforts.
