One of the most impactful experiences of 2021 for The Thomas E. Smith Foundation was our work with AJ Quetta.
On January 26, AJ, then a senior varsity hockey forward for Bishop Feehan High School, was playing against Pope Francis Prep when he hit the boards and became paralyzed from the neck down.
When Thomas heard about AJ’s injury he was moved to action.
Within 72 hours after his accident, he spoke with the Quetta family and assisted them in developing their short and long-term healthcare support programs, as well as the full redesign of their home. “72 hours after he got hurt I spoke with his parents, and I promised them that the foundation and myself would help them for as long as they need our help. I’m so proud of the progress he’s made and we look forward to continuing to support him in his fight.”
AJ continues his fight alongside our partner organization, Journey Forward, in Canton, Massachusetts.
